Be aware of how much pressure the hose assembly will be subject to, and do not exceed manufacturers recommended pressure ratings.
Match product to be conveyed with the proper hose and couplings.
Check couplings and hose clamps regularly and tighten or replace if necessary.
Pneumatic power tools should be secured to the hose or whip by some positive means to prevent the tool from becoming accidentally disconnected.
Worn out couplings and component parts should be replace promptly.
Use retaining devices such as clips, chains or cables, to prevent accidental separation.
All hose assemblies should be treated as potential hazards. Do not stand or position yourself where you are subject to hazards from accidental pressure releases.
Air, Steam & Gas hose couplings are some of the most dangerous hose coupling connections. They can separate with explosive force and cause serious injuiies or death. Use hose retaining devices. Check connections regularly. Do not use universal Air Hose couplings for steam service.
Cam-lock couplings conveying bulk products with compressed air or gas creates a hazardous condition. The hose tends to whip or buck as the material moves through the hose. This snapping motion of the hose puts added stress on the fittings and increases the possibility of failure. Tie off the hose ends to protect against accidental separation of the lines and to prevent whipping or bucking of the hose.
Hose assemblies frequently convey petroleum products or other hazardous liquids. Special caution should be exercised because of the potential hazards that are inherent with the products being conveyed.
The use of Safety Cables is recommended for all pressurized hose connections.
